June 4, 2014 Nashville – Developmental Services of Dickson County received the Chapter Excellence award from The Arc Tennessee during the Twelfth Annual Tennessee Disability MegaConference Awards Banquet held May 30 at the Nashville Airport Marriott.
Developmental Services of Dickson County (DSDC) merged with The Arc Dickson County, to become an affiliated chapter of The Arc. This merger enabled them to hire a part-time coordinator of The Arc services, providing advocacy and information and referral. Robyn Lampley was hired and hit the ground running! She quickly hosted a resource fair with guest speakers and promoted membership. For March Awareness Month she organized You’ve Been Tagged by The Arc, an event where self-advocates went to local businesses and left a tag to spread the word about The Arc. DSDC believes in the values of The Arc. Congratulations to DSDC leadership for reorganization to support and promote The Arc!
The Arc Tennessee [www.thearctn.org] is a non-profit membership organization composed of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families and professionals in the field. For over 60 years, The Arc’s statewide advocacy and education efforts have led to increased options in school, employment, services and inclusion in the community.
